Top 10 Turn Offs For Most Men

By  Geanice  Gee,  M.A.

1.      Talking about your monthly (period) is a major turn off. I don't know if it's the thought of menstrual blood coming from the genital area or if some men have had a bad experience with a woman during this time of the month; in any case, women please refrain from talking about your monthly unless it's necessary. Times when it's absolutely necessary include:
  •  When your monthly is late,
  • When you're preparing to have sex, or
  • When you need your partner to pick up feminine products.
2.      Wearing granny nightgowns or panties to bed is a "no-no," especially for unmarried women. The goal should be to get him to marry you; so try to look your best at all times and save your granny gear until after the honeymoon. Think smart!

3.      Believe it or not, most men don't like it when women want to consume all of their time; therefore clingy women are a major turn off. You don't want to become his shadow, better yet; he doesn't want you to follow his every move.

Allow him to hang with his friends without you constantly calling, sending text messages or threats; in other words, let him experience the world without you. You'll see that this time apart is healthy for your relationship.

4.      In general, rolling out of a pair of clean or dirty underwear and then leaving them where they fall is nasty. No one wants to see dirty clothing from a guest lying around their house or wake up to a nose twisting bad odor in the morning. Please, collect your dirty laundry, and put it in your own hamper. It's best to present yourself as a neat freak instead of as an unkempt woman.

5.      Most women don't like men who can't handle their liquor and believe it or not, most men don't like drunken women either.

6.      Swearing in public is unladylike and a turn off for most men. Please, refrain from using any language that would show you in a negative light or as a manly woman that no man wants to date.

7.      A nagger that just won't shut up is very annoying in general.  Most men prefer not to hear constant complaining. Think about it, why would anyone want to come home to someone that is always finding faults and is negative? If you can't find any good in him, maybe you should consider leaving him instead of making both of your lives miserable.

8.      Try not to talk negatively about his friends as they are often a reflection of him. If you don't like the company he keeps, you may want to find a positive way to present this information, so that it doesn't appear that you are trying to control him and his relationships. You don't want to be seen as a control freak, so be cautious, and whatever you do, don't belittle his friends or relatives.

9.      Men don't like it when women give too many directions during sex. Let him be the guide and if he lacks experience teach him; but if he doesn't want your input, it may be best to replace him with a man who is willing to listen and learn.

10.  Wearing pajamas throughout the day gives the impressive that you're a lazy/dirty person. Every day you should bathe, brush your hair and teeth even when you don't plan to leave the house. Most men don't like funky women, so it's best to have good hygiene when interacting with the opposite sex.

Top 10 Turn Offs For Most Women

By  Geanice Gee,  M.A.

1.      Let's face it, a major turn off for most women are males who can't handle their liquor. Vomiting on the side of the road, in a doggy bag or on a date's dress is usually a deal breaker.

Men, please refrain from drinking excessively, especially while on a date. No sane person wants to date an embarrassing drunk that is touchy feely, belligerent and stumbles to the car/metro.  Please, don't blame poor conduct on the goose (alcohol); drink responsibly or don't drink at all.

2.      Most women don't want men to dance inappropriately with them, by themselves or with anyone else. This includes grinding on objects, a woman's backside or performing lap dances. A word of advice for both sexes is that you shouldn't roll up on anyone you don't know from behind.

3.      Starting a relationship with negativity will most likely end because of negativity. "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

4.      Selfish and conceited men are annoying to some women. I know we’re not living in the 60's, but some women like it when men open and close doors for them and they also like it when men pay for things without looking for financial support. Men, please show her that chivalry isn't dead, and don't expect her to cover any portion of the bill.

Most women prefer not to be with men who think they look better than them. Having a pocket mirror, looking at one's own reflection in the rear-view mirror or through silverware is a bit creepy, and the qualities of a vain person that just can't get enough of themselves.

5.      Too much damn cologne is sickening. It can get into a woman's eyes, which can cause tears and a burning sensation, and then travels down her throat causing her to gag.  A person shouldn't be able to taste your cologne from across the table.

6.      Swearing in public is uncouth and shouldn't be done in the presence of a lady.  If every other word you say is a curse word, you may want to pick up a copy of the Oxford Dictionary.

7.      Bad breath/body odor is a major turn off for most people regardless of their gender. Please, practice good hygiene before you mingle.

8.      Being overly affectionate could earn you a criminal record and/or jail time. Pay attention to the signs. If she is pushing you always, she's basically saying through body language that she doesn't want to be touched. Again, avoid being touchy feely.

9.     Most women don't like cheap men. It's not always about materialist things, but you are selling yourself to her through your actions, therefore you don't want to sell yourself short by being too cheap. Some women are understanding and will work with a small budget; others will not.

10.  Scorn/bitter men are seen as weak to most women, therefore broken men can be undesirable. Most women  would like a strong man that is able to live with the past and move on. If you're unable to let go of things that occurred in past, this may affect your current relationship.

My Top 5 Turn Offs

1.      A deal breaker for me is a man who has several kids with more than one woman. This type of man often denies a few of his children and would like for you to believe that he's nothing like the other guys you've been with.

But, in actuality, he's everything you don't want in a man; he's someone's thrown away moldy leftovers not good enough for the trashcan, so he's been discarded in the garbage disposal and drench with water and non greasy dish detergent because he reeks.

2.      I don't like freeloaders in general, but a man who can't handle his own is the worst to me. For instance, if he sits at the bus/metro station all day looking for his next meal ticket or is currently living off of someone who is living off of someone else, he isn't a keeper, but rather a "scrub." TLC said it best, "I don't want no scrub," and you shouldn’t want one either.

3.      Similar to the top 10 list, a man that has funky body odor is resistible and replaceable.  Being funky is not a good character trait. This shows that he cares nothing about global warming as he pollutes the air with his intolerable funk.

4.      Do you know what's worse than not being able to handle your liquor…having a serious addiction to Marijuana. Believe it or not, Marijuana makes the mind lazy and a bit simple; therefore, your thought process isn't right when you're addicted to gas. When people are addicted to weed some tend to:

  • Blame the government for everything that goes wrong (conspiracy theories)
  • Are late or never show up for important events
  • Have slow reflexes
  • Answer questions slowly

5.      I could go on and on, but my final turn off is with men that smoke Cigarettes. I don't want to die from second hand smoke and I think it's selfish for a smoker to smoke in the presence of a non-smoker; please, don't put my health at risk. Plus, cigarettes stink and the smell lingers and gets into clothes. You need a little more than Old Spice to conceal that smell.

Next week, a top 10 list of turn offs for men will be posted.
